She can hardly sleep because she can only hear dishes breaking in the kitchen and mommy yelling at daddy. Her older sister whispers to her and assures her that everything is going to be well in the morning. She is confused because Mommy and Daddy were just smiling at dinner. Everything was fine until she started ballet. She knew that it was her fault that Daddy hit Mommy. She also knew that it was her fault that Mommy cheated on Daddy. She knew that she was to blame for the divorce. Aside from their high school graduation and earning their first real paycheck, marriage is one of the most joyous occasions most people will ever experience. When two individuals decide to tie the knot, it may seem that they will be together for eternity; however, when reality sets in, everything is not a fairy tale ending. According to The Huffington Post, 50% of all marriages end in divorce. Despite taking a toll on the divorcing couple, divorce affects the couple’s children the most.
